In an effort to guarantee justice and find the whereabouts of Roberto Ignacio Anauati, the Ministry of National Security has launched a reward offer of 5,000,000 pesos. This incentive seeks to motivate anyone with relevant information to collaborate with the authorities to achieve the capture of the former commissioner of the Police of the Province of Buenos Aires, who faces serious accusations.
Details of the resolution and background of the case
The reward was established by Resolution 409/2026, signed by Minister Alejandra Susana Monteoliva on April 30, 2026 and officially published shortly after. The measure responds to an express request from the Federal Criminal Oral Court No. 1 of San Martín, headed by Judge Silvina Mayorga, made on March 6, 2026. This court urged the Ministry to activate the reward mechanism to facilitate the detention of Anauati, who has a national arrest warrant in force since October 28, 2022.
Anauati, born on July 8, 1963, held the position of commissioner in the Campana Delegation of Complex Investigations and Narcocriminality, belonging to the Buenos Aires police. His last registered address is located at 100 Tucumán Street, in the Ezeiza district. The case that implicates him as the main defendant is titled “Anauati, Roberto Ignacio and others regarding False Testimonies” and is being processed before the same federal court of San Martín, with the intervention of Prosecutor No. 1, prosecutor's office Marcelo García Berro.
A final conviction and serious crimes
On February 23, 2021, the court issued a conviction against Anauati, declaring him co-author of a false complaint repeated on three occasions: once as the author and twice as the instigator. In addition, he was found guilty of instigating the crime of aggravated false testimony, committed in criminal cases and to the detriment of the accused, in two different events.
The sentence also included charges of unlawful deprivation of liberty with functional abuse, repeated in four events, one of which was aggravated by lasting more than 30 days. The sentence handed down was 3 years and 9 months in prison, along with absolute disqualification for twice the length of the sentence, legal accessories and payment of costs.

Origin of the cause and its impact
The case that led to Anauati's conviction dates back to March 2005, when he led a group of Buenos Aires police in a criminal investigation based on falsely incriminating data.
