Last Wednesday, October 22, the city of Angelópolis, Puebla, was shaken by tragic news that resonated on social networks and in the hearts of many. Yusvely Marianny Núñez Rodríguez, a 20-year-old girl originally from Venezuela, decided to end her life by jumping from a pedestrian bridge over Vía Atlixcáyotl, near the Cultural and Innovation Complex (CIS).
Yusvely's heartbreaking story was made public through a post on his Instagram account, where he shared his intentions to commit suicide, apologizing to his mother and revealing the pain he had suffered, including experiences of sexual abuse by his brother. In his final message, Yusvely expressed his love for life, mentioning how much he enjoyed feeling the rays of the sun and the raindrops, but also hinted at the internal battle he was fighting.
Before her final act, the young woman contacted her boyfriend by phone to inform him of her decision. Although he alerted immediately to the authorities, unfortunately they did not arrive in time to prevent the tragedy. On the bridge, Yusvely's belongings were found, the same ones that appeared in the photos that accompanied his farewell publication.
Yusvely's message, shared around 5:00 p.m., was a silent cry that spoke of his struggle with depression, lack of connection with his family, and feeling like he was a burden. Despite the difficulties, his farewell was a reminder of the beauty of life and a call to those who read it to value every moment.
Yusvely's loss is a painful reminder of the importance of paying attention to the signs of those around us and of offer support and understanding to those who may be facing similar battles. Her story invites us to reflect on the need to open safe spaces to talk about mental health and abuse, and to foster support networks that can prevent tragedies like this.
The authorities and emergency services, upon arriving at the scene, they could only confirm that Yusvely no longer had vital signs, leaving a trail of sadness and unanswered questions in the community.
