The Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Araqchi, handed over this Saturday to the head of the Pakistani Army, General Asim Munir, a list of Tehran's "responses" to the United States proposals that it had previously received from Pakistani mediation to consolidate the ceasefire in force. So far, there are no prospects for a meeting with the North American delegation, which will also meet with the Pakistani authorities in the country's capital, Islamabad. Araqchi and his delegation also met in the Pakistani capital with the country's Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, where gestures of camaraderie were shown, evident in a hug that was shared on social networks by the Iranian diplomat himself. This meeting highlights the importance of diplomatic relations in the midst of a context of regional tensions.

The head of Iranian diplomacy has expressed his gratitude for the "valuable efforts" of the Pakistani Government, highlighting in particular the work of General Asim Munir to achieve a ceasefire and the end of the war. Munir, for his part, has valued Iran's confidence in Pakistan's efforts and has expressed his country's willingness to continue with mediation "until a result is achieved." This dynamic reflects Pakistan's role as a mediator in a situation that remains complex and delicate, where the search for peaceful solutions is essential for regional stability.

Iranian authorities have already indicated that they have no intention of meeting this Saturday with US representatives, who include former President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and Middle East adviser Steve Witkoff. Araqchi's visit to Pakistan marks the beginning of a regional tour that will take him in the coming days to Oman, a mediator in the frustrated diplomatic talks on the Iranian nuclear program, and to Russia, a great ally of Iran. Iranian state radio and television has stated that the note delivered by Araqchi "is exhaustive and addresses all of Tehran's concerns," although it has not provided more details about its content, which generates even more speculation about the direction of the negotiations.

The meeting between Araqchi and the top brass of the Pakistani security establishment, which includes national security advisor Asim Malik and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, is significant in the current context. Araqchi was accompanied by his deputy, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi; Iran's ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri-Moghaddam; and the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaei. The "note" delivered by Baqaei suggests that Iran has opted for a model of indirect talks after the failure of the meeting on April 11 and 12, which concluded after more than 20 hours without an agreement. Exchanges have since continued indirectly through Pakistan, with both sides adjusting their positions while avoiding a formal breakup, signaling an effort to keep lines of communication open.

In parallel, the spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces, Ebrahim Zolfaqari, reiterated this Saturday a warning to the United States, pointing out that if the North American country maintains its blockade with "banditry and piracy", "there will be a response from the powerful Iranian Armed Forces." Zolfaqari has emphasized that Iran "manages and controls the strategic Strait of Hormuz" and could "inflict more serious damage on US-Zionist enemies if they invade again." This statement underlines Iran's firm stance in defense of its sovereignty and national interests, in a context where tensions with the United States and Israel remain high.

The ceasefire between the parties, originally negotiated between April 7 and 8, has been extended without a defined deadline, creating space for diplomacy but also prolonging uncertainty. This situation highlights the need for a diplomatic approach that allows progress towards a peaceful resolution of differences, in an environment where threats and warnings can escalate rapidly. The international community is closely watching the development of these events, as the outcome of these negotiations could have significant repercussions not only for Iran and the United States, but also for the stability of the entire region.
