Accident on Route 8 Lavalleja: death and four vehicles involved confirmed

The accident recorded on Route 8, kilometer 139, became fatal. According to the extension shared this morning, the driver of the pick-up truck who had been diagnosed as having severe life-threatening multiple trauma died in a care center in the city of Minas. No injuries were reported among the occupants of the bus.

According to the preliminary report known at 8:15 on Tuesday, September 2, four vehicles were involved in the crash. A truck that was driving north to south hit a small utility vehicle that was stopped on the shoulder assisting another with similar characteristics due to a mechanical failure. As a result of the impact, one of the cars overturned and the other was thrown onto the road, where it ended up hitting a bus which was circulating in the opposite direction, towards the north.

The same report indicated that, in addition to the driver of the truck, the two drivers of the parked vehicles had serious injuries. No injuries were reported on the bus. At 9:24 the death of the pickup driver was confirmed, so the incident was classified as a fatal accident.

The authorities continue with the investigation to determine responsibilities and the precise mechanics of the crash. It is recommended to exercise extreme caution when driving through the area and pay attention to any detours while the technical work and removal of the units are completed.
