Gaza authorities reported that at least seven people, including two minors, died in the last 24 hours as a direct consequence of the lack of food. The situation, aggravated by restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid and the Israeli military offensive, keeps the enclave in a state of extreme emergency.
The local Ministry of Health reported that, with these deaths, the total number of victims of hunger and malnutrition amounts to 420 since the beginning of the blockade, of which 145 are children. Only since in August the Integrated Classification of the Food Security in Phases (IPC) declared Gaza in a state of famine, 142 deaths were recorded, including 30 minors.
The offensive Israeli began after the attacks perpetrated on October 7, 2023 by different Palestinian factions. Since then, the Gazan authorities have counted more than 64,750 deaths, in a context of strong criticism international for the blockade of aid and the impact on the civilian population.
Humanitarian organizations warn that the combination of violence, isolation and scarcity of resources is leading Gaza to an unprecedented crisis, with consequences that could be irreversible if immediate access to food and medicine is not guaranteed.
