The routes in the north of the country once again became the scene of a painful road tragedy. Firstly, the lack of night visibility and incorporation maneuvers in rural areas of agricultural production usually generate very high risk scenarios. Consequently, the first hours of this Saturday were marked by a fatal accident in Tucumán. The massive accident, which occurred on the roadway of National Route 9, left the destructive result of the loss of four human lives instantly.
At first, the emergency services received the alerts around 4:30 in the morning from the town of Agua Azul, located in the department of Leales. In this way, police personnel confirmed that a gray Ford Ka compact car had impacted with extreme violence against the left side of a Mercedes Benz truck with a trailer. In fact, the heavy transport left a field bordering a sugar cane plantation and entered the road heading north of the territory.

The details behind the new fatal accident in Tucumán
On the other hand, the occupants of the smaller car had no opportunity to save themselves due to the magnitude of the collision. Doctors from the 107 emergency service confirmed at the scene the death of the driver, a 57-year-old man, who was traveling accompanied by two women, ages 59 and 31. Likewise, the violence of the impact ended the life of a little girl of just seven years old. All of the fatalities had a registered address in the capital of Santiago del Estero, which generated a deep social commotion in the neighboring region.
While mechanical experts evaluate the remains of the body on the shoulder, the driver of the sugarcane truck was completely unharmed in the collision.
Due to the total destruction of the cabin, judicial proceedings were immediately centralized by the police forces to determine criminal responsibilities for the incident. For this reason, investigators seek to establish whether the trailer of the heavy-duty transport had the mandatory reflective stripes and the regulatory position lights for driving during times of total darkness.

The latent danger of the harvest and the road history in the province
Unfortunately, this type of incident is not an isolated case in the northern region. Just a few weeks ago, National Route 38 witnessed another event with identical characteristics in the Palo Blanco area, where a high-end truck rammed the back of another sugarcane dump truck. On that occasion, the collision ended the lives of two adults and a nine-year-old child, also leaving a two-year-old girl under hospital observation at the Concepción Judicial Center.
Consequently, residents and regular drivers of these commercial routes demand greater controls on heavy traffic during the sugarcane harvest season. The constant flow of private vehicles coexists daily with large machinery that maneuvers on poorly marked dirt roads. In conclusion, the last fatal accident in Tucumán revives an urgent debate about road safety in productive corridors, where lack of prevention continues to cost innocent lives on the asphalt
