The Uruguayan Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow weather warning for severe storms and heavy rain affecting several areas of the country.
Phenomenon and scope
The alert, in effect since early Monday morning, is due to the presence of a humid and unstable air mass that favors the development of thunderstorms. In the affected areas, intense electrical activity, heavy rainfall in short periods, occasional hail, and strong wind gusts are expected.
Departments and localities under warning
The warning covers the entire department of Artigas, the town of Chapicuy in Paysandú, and several areas of Salto, including Albisu, Arapey, Belén, Constitución, Termas del Arapey , and Termas del Daymán, among others.
Expected evolution
According to the agency, temporary improvements may occur during the duration of the warning. The situation is under constant monitoring, and any significant changes will be reported.
