Devastating winds: Sinae warns departments about the approaching cyclone

The National Emergency System (Sinae) has alerted departmental centers across the country about the arrival of an extratropical cyclone , which will begin to be felt in Uruguay beginning in the early hours of Tuesday, August 19.

According to the Uruguayan Meteorological Institute (Inumet) increase in wind intensity is expected , with gusts of between 60 and 80 km/h and persistent winds of 40 to 60 km/h from the east and northeast.

A developing phenomenon

The phenomenon is due to the deepening of a low-pressure system over the country's western coast. In addition to strong winds, heavy rains and occasional storms to affect the entire country.

According to the report, the system will move southeast on Wednesday the 20th, causing a shift in wind direction toward the west, primarily affecting areas south of the Negro River.
