Lower than normal temperatures will reach Uruguay and the region between August 4 and 9.
Meteorologist Mario Bidegain reported that temperatures will be between 2 and 6 degrees below average this week. Two cold fronts will affect Uruguay, Argentina, and neighboring countries.
The week begins with below-normal temperatures in Uruguay and the region.
From Monday, August 4th to Saturday, August 9th, colder than usual days are expected across much of Uruguay and the region. This was warned this Sunday by meteorologist Mario Bidegain, via his X account, where he indicated that there will be "negative anomalies of between -2°C and -6°C below the normal average."
This change in temperature will also be felt in several areas of the continent: it will affect Argentina, Paraguay, southern Bolivia, and also southern Brazil.
According to Bidegain, the phenomenon is due to the arrival of two cold fronts that will hit the region during the week.
Along the same lines, the Brazilian meteorological agency Metsul Meteorologia confirmed that one of these fronts has already begun advancing this Sunday. The second is expected in the second half of the week and will be accompanied by a low-pressure center, which will further reinforce the temperature drop.
Although temperatures will drop, Metsul clarified that "intense cold is not expected," although unusually high temperatures for this time of year will be recorded.
In short, it will be a week with cooler weather than expected, especially in inland departments and rural areas, where the minimum temperatures could be felt more strongly. Although this is not a polar wave as such, the warning is out: bundle up and be alert, especially when going out early or at night.
