MADRID, 14 (EUROPA PRESS)

The U.S. producer price index (PPI) rose 0.9% in July, compared to a stagnation in the previous month, the Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Thursday.

The government agency explained that this circumstance occurred after demand for services moved from the red figures of -0.1% in June to grow by 1.1% in July. Likewise, the goods sector posted an increase of 0.7%, four-tenths of a percentage point higher.

The core output inflation index, which excludes the impact of energy, food, and trade due to their greater volatility, posted a 0.6% expansion in July from the previous zero growth.

On a year-over-year basis, headline prices were 3.3% higher than their levels in the seventh month of 2024, while underlying prices rose 2.8%.

CPI DATA

The underlying variable closed with a 3.1% increase, two-tenths of a percentage point higher and the highest level since February. In this regard, food prices rose 2.9%, while energy was 1.6% cheaper than twelve months earlier.
