Russian authorities have confirmed the arrest of an individual accused of acting as an accomplice in the April attack that killed General Yaroslav Moskalik, the deputy commander in the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
Moskalik died on April 25 in the town of Balashikha, in the Moscow region, when a bomb planted in a car parked near the general's home exploded.
The accused, according to the Federal Security Service (FSB), is a Russian citizen born in 1976. In July 2023, he contacted an employee of the Ukrainian special services, with whom he carried out "activities against the security of the Russian Federation in exchange for financial compensation," according to the indictment reported by the Russian news agency Interfax.
This employee is believed to be Ignat Kuzin, the prime suspect in the attack, who has reportedly confessed to being an agent under the orders of Ukraine.
