Russia reports alleged seizure of a town in Dnipropetrovsk, eastern Ukraine

by August 25, 2025

The Russian Armed Forces have taken control of a new town in the Dnipropetrovsk region of eastern Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported in its daily progress report on Monday.

Specifically, Moscow declared the village of Zaporozhskoe "liberated," one day after announcing the capture of Filiya, a town also located in Dnipropetrovsk.

Ukrainian authorities have not commented on these possible developments, although in recent weeks President Volodymyr Zelensky has acknowledged an intensification of the offensive in the eastern region, coinciding with diplomatic efforts initiated by the United States.
