Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this Saturday the approval of sanctions against 139 Russian individuals and entities for collaborating in the Russian military offensive in eastern Ukraine. In addition, 28 third-country nationals have been sanctioned for financing Russian activities.

The Ukrainian Presidency has thus announced the approval of the proposal from the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council. "We are also working with the security agencies of partner countries on each of these names," Zelensky emphasized.

The sanctions are in line with those imposed by the Canadian authorities. "Together with our partners, we are also preparing to synchronize the Ukrainian sanctions in our partners' jurisdictions," he added.

Zelensky has thus defended the sanctions as a measure of "real" pressure against Russia to "force Moscow to stop the war against Ukraine .
