Shocking video shows a truck driver electrocuted in India. The community demands accountability for the lack of safety.

A truck driver died after being electrocuted at a factory in India. The incident was captured on shocking video, sparking protests over safety lapses and the proximity of high-voltage lines to the loading area.

A workplace accident shook the city of Udaipur, India, this week, after a truck driver was electrocuted after coming into contact with a high-voltage cable while securing his vehicle's load. The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at a chemical factory, prompting strong protests from the local community.

The worker, identified as Ramlal Gadari, 40, had arrived in his truck at the Modi industrial site, located in the RIICO industrial estate in Dabok, to deliver goods. Once unloading was complete, he climbed onto the top of the truck to adjust the protective tarp, as he usually did before leaving. But this time, an 11,000-volt overhead wire was passing too close to the vehicle.

In a flash, the ordinary scene turned tragic. Ramlal's head grazed the power line, receiving a devastating shock. His body lay sprawled across the truck, the incident recorded by a nearby surveillance camera.

Witnesses to the incident immediately alerted factory officials and medical services, but upon arriving at the scene, medical professionals were only able to confirm the worker's death.

The news quickly spread through the community, generating shock and outrage among family members, colleagues, and neighbors. The next day, a large group of people gathered outside the factory where the accident occurred, demanding answers for what had happened.

The protesters directly targeted the company and local authorities for their lack of preventive measures. One of the most frequently voiced complaints was the installation of high-voltage power lines directly above the area where trucks load and unload.

"This could have been avoided if someone had been concerned about safety," said one of the protesters, visibly shaken. For many, the fact that an 11,000-volt power line was so close to the operational area represents gross negligence.

Tensions escalated, and police officers from three local precincts arrived at the scene, along with a magistrate who attempted to mediate between the parties. The protest proceeded peacefully, although not without strong protests and painful scenes.

The case highlights a problem common in many industrial regions: poor electrical and occupational safety oversight. Despite the fact that the plant is linked to chemical products, with constant movement of heavy vehicles, the infrastructure conditions do not appear to have been adequate to address the risks.

Images of the accident quickly circulated on social media, further fueling social unrest. Several local media outlets warned about the dangers of the electrical installation in that area, and some residents noted that prior warnings had already been issued.

Ramlal's family is reportedly considering legal action against the company and is being supported by community organizations. Meanwhile, the factory remains operational, albeit under public scrutiny.

In Udaipur, as in so many other parts of the country, transport workers often perform tasks in difficult conditions, without minimal protection guarantees. Cases like this expose the structural flaws of a system that often prioritizes production over safety.

Ramlal Gadari was 40 years old, a family man known for his dedication to his profession. The void left by his loss is felt in his home, but also throughout the community, which saw this accident as more than an isolated incident: a warning sign.
