MADRID, 20 (EUROPA PRESS)

A Florida prisoner convicted of kidnapping and murdering a woman was executed by lethal injection on Tuesday, bringing the total number of death sentences carried out in 2025 in the state to ten.

Kayle Bates, 67, died shortly after 6 p.m. local time on Tuesday after receiving an injection containing three substances—a sedative, a paralyzer, and a heart-stopping drug—in a Florida prison where she was serving time for first-degree murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and attempted sexual assault of Janet White in June 1982.

With his death, ten people have been executed in Florida since the beginning of 2025, surpassing its record for executions in a single year, although two more inmates are expected to lose their lives under these conditions next month.

Nationwide, the number of people sentenced to death – all men – so far this year has reached 29 with Bates. According to CBS News, at least nine more executions are scheduled for the remainder of 2025.
