The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga have expressed their solidarity with those affected by the fires raging across various parts of Spain, particularly Galicia and Castile and León, and have thanked the personnel working to extinguish the blazes.
"Spanish football wants to show its solidarity with all those affected by the fires that are devastating our mountains, towns, and natural environment," the federation said on the social network X, in a joint statement with LaLiga.
Five autonomous communities (Galicia, Extremadura, Castile and León, Asturias, and Cantabria) are the hardest hit by this summer's wildfires, which have already burned nearly 120,000 hectares and forced the evacuation of thousands of residents from towns near the active fires. So far, three people have died as a result of the fires.
"Our deepest gratitude to the firefighters, emergency personnel, law enforcement officers, and volunteers who are working tirelessly to protect us. Against fire, we're all on the same team," he concluded.
