MADRID, 16 (EUROPA PRESS)
Hurricane Erin, the first of the Atlantic season, has gained strength in recent hours, reaching Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale and is moving through the Caribbean with maximum sustained winds of about 215 kilometers per hour.
This is reflected in an alert from the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC), which warned this Saturday of the progress of a "dangerous" cyclone that, in principle, will not make landfall.
However, the hurricane's outer reaches are expected to bring rain to some archipelagos in the area, including the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
