Russian authorities have raised the provisional death toll to 26 from last Friday's explosion at a gunpowder factory in the Russian region of Ryazan, south of Moscow, according to a new report released Wednesday by the regional government.
More than 150 people were injured in the explosion, which rocked a factory in the Shilovski district. The cause of the explosion has not been disclosed. Emergency services have been working in the area for days, where close surveillance is ongoing.
Ryazan authorities said in a statement that around thirty injured people remain in hospital, 15 of them in the region itself and the same number in medical centers in Moscow.
