The US Open men's singles tournament, the fourth and final Grand Slam, will feature Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz in the bottom half of the draw, along with Serbian Novak Djokovic and Russian Daniil Medvedev, while Italian Jannik Sinner will be in the top half alongside Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas and German Alexander Zverev.
According to Thursday's draw in Flushing Meadows, Alcaraz will debut against American Reilly Opelka. Should he win, and based on his ATP rankings, he could face Italian Mattia Bellucci in the second round, another Italian, Luciano Darderi, in the third round, Medvedev in the round of 16, American Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals, Djokovic in the semifinals, and, hypothetically, Sinner in the final.
Of the other Spaniards in the men's competition, Jaume Munar, Pedro Martínez and Pablo Carreño will debut against opponents yet to be determined and coming from the qualifying rounds. Roberto Bautista will do so against the British Jacob Fearnley, Roberto Carballés against the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech and Alejandro Davidovich against the Kazakh Aleksandr Shevchenko.
In the women's tournament, Jessica Bouzas will play Croatian Donna Vekic in the first round, starting from the same half of the draw as Iga Swiatek, the highest-ranked player in the WTA rankings. The Pole is only surpassed by Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, who tops the top half and will debut against the now Swiss Rebeka Masarova.
Spanish players Nuria Párrizas and Cristina Bucsa, who have yet to meet their opponents for their debuts because they will be coming out of the qualifying rounds, are also competing in the upper part of the draw with the aforementioned Sabalenka, the reigning champion of this New York tournament.
