Tennis/US Open - Spaniard Pablo Llamas advances to the final draw of the men's singles tournament.

Spanish tennis player Pablo Llamas has qualified for the main draw of the US Open men's singles tournament, the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season, played on hard courts, after defeating Argentine Marco Trungelliti 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the final round of qualifying.

To reach the final singles tournament in Flushing Meadows (New York, United States), the Cadiz native had defeated German Yannick Hanfmann 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in two hours of play and also American Andres Martin 6-4, 6-4 in another two hours.

The bad news for the Spanish team in qualifying this Friday was Daniel Mérida's 6-1, 7-6(2) defeat to South African Lloyd Harris, leaving the Madrid native eliminated on the verge of qualifying for the men's singles draw of this tournament.
