A traffic accident between two taxis in Montevideo left five people injured and public roads damaged. The accident occurred this Sunday at the intersection of Mercedes and Fernández Crespo streets.

The drivers of both vehicles, ages 54 and 21, were treated at the scene and released shortly afterward. A 23-year-old female passenger also suffered minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.

Meanwhile, a 47-year-old man lost consciousness and had to be taken to a mutual health insurance company in the capital, where he remains under observation. Another passenger, a 32-year-old man, was taken to Maciel Hospital with multiple injuries. A third passenger escaped unharmed.

Images captured at the scene show that the crash also caused a traffic light to fail at the intersection, causing traffic complications.

Highway patrol officers and traffic personnel from the Montevideo City Hall worked in the area to regulate traffic and remove the damaged vehicles.
