MADRID, 16 (EUROPA PRESS) Mallorca coach Jagoba Arrasate complained about the inconsistent criteria of referee José Luis Munuera Montero this Saturday in the 0-3 defeat against FC Barcelona, where several actions were protested and the match lasted "twenty-something minutes."
"We've seen that incident all over the place, and they explained to us last week in the debriefing that if there's a blow to the head, the game is stopped. The fourth official, in front of me, told him to stop because it was a blow to the head. He puts the whistle to his mouth—we all thought he'd blown it—and to everyone's amazement, he gives a goal. I don't quite understand. He told me the player wasn't dizzy," he said.
The home coach was asked about the controversy at Son Moix, especially that goal and two red cards, as soon as he sat down for a press conference. "What happened with Moralnes, they gave him a yellow card, and in a rigorous incident, they gave him a second. And it's not the first time Muriqi has had a 50-yard kick and raised his foot with such bad luck that it landed in his face. The referee gave him a yellow card, and the VAR warned him," he stated.
"It's a shame because the game lasted twenty-something minutes. I'm left with the reaction of the team and the fans in the second half. Above all, we complain about the approach. The approach wasn't the same; it grates on you, it makes you angry. Halftime is a complicated situation. We were hot under the collar, but we worked to calm down and bring in fresh players. The last goal makes the result even worse," he added.
"I want to see in the coming weeks if they're going to let us continue or if they're going to stop immediately. Maybe we've stayed put and we shouldn't have, maybe Ferran puts it in the top corner. We all thought he was going to blow the whistle. When you feel like what's happening is unfair, it's hard to stay quiet," he added.
Arrasate admitted there was some room for improvement in those moments. "We connected with the fans. We didn't want it that way, but they left feeling proud of the team. These are things we need to improve. Mallorca has that intensity and sometimes it gets to us," he noted, expressing confidence that LaLiga will consider changing the kickoff time to five next week, following the heat this Saturday.
