Racing de Santander defeated Castellón (3-1) and Deportivo de La Coruña won (1-3) away to Granada, in the two most important matches this Saturday in the first round of LaLiga Hypermotion.
Racing, who were left wanting last season, started the season strongly to try to get back on top in the promotion race. El Sardinero enjoyed their team's performance, which was already 1-0 up within six minutes thanks to Asier Villalibre's goal. The Basque striker landed a fine performance in his new home, and Andrés Martín added the second in the 40th minute.
Despite the home side's celebration, Castellón remained focused on the game and reduced the deficit through Ousmane Camara before the break. The visitors were the better side after the restart, but José Alberto's substitutions gave Racing the upper hand. Ezkieta held the ball in goal at a crucial moment, and Andrés Martín converted a penalty in the 83rd minute.
Meanwhile, Deportivo opened the scoring with quality at Los Cármenes, where Mario Soriano, following a great team move, and Zakaria Eddahchouri put the Galicians ahead 2-0. Granada pulled one back shortly after through Martin Hongla, but Manu Lama's sending-off gave Deportivo the chance to finish the job, although the 3-1 lead didn't come until Sergio Escudero's stoppage time.
Málaga and Eibar also drew 1-1 in a hard-fought duel at La Rosaleda. Javier Martón put the Basques ahead early in the second half, but Adrián Niño capitalized on a mistake by the visiting goalkeeper Nolaskoain to equalize. In the closing stages, both teams sought victory, but the score remained 1-1.
