The scholarships for students from the interior of the country were confirmed at the 18th edition of the Salto Fine Wine Fair, an event that has become a staple in the department's cultural and charitable agenda. The event, organized by the Salto Noreste Rotary Club, took place at La Calandria Polo Club with the participation of more than 22 national wineries that presented their best labels.

The event combined wine tasting, tourism, and culture, but above all, solidarity. The proceeds will fund the 2026 scholarship program, which seeks to support young people from the interior who wish to continue their studies.

Rotary and business commitment

At the opening ceremony, Stella Caputto, representative of the Salto Noreste Rotary Club , thanked the companies, institutions, and the public who attended. "Thanks to this joint effort, the 2026 scholarship program is a reality," she noted, emphasizing the importance of sustaining this aid, which opens educational opportunities, over time.

Guillermo Luzardo, from Felice, one of the main sponsors, expressed his pride in supporting the initiative. "This event won the hearts of the people of Salta," he said, emphasizing the value of converting the funds raised into scholarships for students from the interior of the country. He also emphasized that customer support enables the family business to maintain its commitment to these types of causes.

Support from the Intendancy

Salto Mayor Carlos Albisu congratulated the organizers and emphasized that the program goes beyond financial assistance. "The key is support, being there for young people when they need it, often like a surrogate family that helps them overcome obstacles along the way," he explained.

Albisu announced that the Salto Municipality will provide 12 scholarships for students from the interior of the country, adding to the funds already provided by Rotary. He stated that the plan is to expand the grant in future years so that more young people can continue their studies without the insurmountable barriers of lack of money or relocation from the interior.

Charity event in Salto that will award scholarships to students from the interior
The Fine Wine Show raised funds to finance educational scholarships in Salto.

The leader praised this "quiet work," which, according to him, strengthens Salta society and sets an example for other institutions to follow.

A consolidated event

The Salto Fine Wine Show was declared of departmental, tourism, and national winemaking interest by the Salto Municipality , the Departmental Board, the Ministry of Tourism, and the National Institute of Viticulture (INAVI). Over the years, it has established itself as a space that not only promotes the wine sector but also allocates the proceeds to a specific social purpose: scholarships for students from the interior of the country.

The 2025 edition once again demonstrated that when the community, businesses, and authorities come together, the impact transcends the cultural and culinary aspects. For many families in the interior of the country, these scholarships represent a financial lifeline and the opportunity for their children to access tertiary or university education.

In times when making ends meet is a challenge, having financial support and supportive institutions makes all the difference. The commitment to education and training for young people is reaffirmed year after year at this event that blends wine, solidarity, and the future.

Beyond the event's symbolism, the scholarships for students from the interior reflect a concrete need. Many young people must leave their homes to pursue tertiary or university studies in Montevideo or capital cities, which entails housing, transportation, and food costs that their families can't always cover. In some cases, they resort to odd jobs to pay for bus fare or tuition, making it difficult to keep up with their studies. In this sense, each scholarship is not only a financial relief, but also a way to ensure that talented people from the interior have the same opportunities as young people from the capital.
