A Russian court on Sunday decided to extend the detention of three people accused of the death of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, then head of the Russian Armed Forces' Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces.
Moscow's Basmanny Court has granted investigators' request to extend the detention of Akhmadzhon Kurbonov, Batujan Tochiyev, and Ramazan Padiev until November 17 in the case of the deaths of Kirillov and his assistant, Ilya Polikarpov, according to the TASS news agency.
The lieutenant died in December 2024 after a bomb planted on an electric scooter parked at the entrance of a residential building in the Russian capital, Moscow, exploded. Authorities have opened a criminal case into the murder of the two soldiers.
Kirillov was in charge of the troops responsible for combating the effects of nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical weapons, generally known as weapons of mass destruction, and also for civil security operations in the event of a nuclear, bacteriological, chemical or environmental accident.
His death occurred just one day after the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced the indictment of the soldier for his alleged responsibility in the use of Unchemical weapons in the country as part of the invasion, unleashed in February 2022 by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
