Bleecker Street has acquired the US rights to the psychological horror thriller Victorian Psycho directed by Zachary Wigon and starring Maika Monroe , Jason Isaacs , and Thomasin McKenzie .
The film is an adaptation of Virginia's best-selling book, which also wrote the screenplay. Set in 1858, the story centers on a housekeeper named Winifred Notty (Monroe), who hides her psychopathic tendencies while working at a remote Gothic mansion.
But when the woman addresses her accusations, employees begin inexplicably disappearing, and the property owners begin to wonder too late if the new housekeeper is serving a spoonful of sugar with a little arsenic on the side.
Bleecker Street is planning a 2026 theatrical release after production begins this week in Ireland. Dan Kagan is producing the feature alongside Sébastien Raybaud ( Greenland: Migration, Greenland, The Night House ) for Anton and Wigon, in association with Anonymous Content. Executive producers include Nick Shumaker, Bard Dorros, Made, Kent Sanderson, and Miranda King.
"We're proud to partner with this incredible Victorian Psycho creative team. Zach's vision is thrilling, and we know each image will be striking, unique, and, for lack of a better word, cutting edge," said Kent Sanderson, CEO of Bleecker Street, in a statement.
Anton is fully financing the film and represents international rights. The U.S. distribution deal was negotiated by King and UTA Independent Film Group, CAA Media Finance, and Anton on behalf of the filmmakers.
