MADRID, 23 (EUROPA PRESS)
Arsenal FC have thrashed Leeds United 5-0 in Matchday 2 of the Premier League, on a Saturday where Tottenham Hotspur also won 2-0 at Manchester City and Aston Villa lost 1-0 at Brentford FC.
Saturday's shootout began at Manchester's Etihad Stadium, where Brennan Johnson put the visitors ahead just past the half-hour mark after finishing off a low pass from Richarlison in the heart of the box following a swift attack down the right flank. In first-half stoppage time, João Palhinha made it 2-0 after a mistake by the City goalkeeper and his defense.
This defeat left Pep Guardiola's team with three points, while Spurs have six points and are joint-top with Arsenal, who thrashed Leeds in front of their home crowd thanks to a goal from Bukayo Saka and braces from Jurrien Timber and Viktor Gyökeres, the latter making his debut as a Gunners goal scorer in an official match.
That left Mikel Arteta's charges on six points, leaving the Whites in mid-table with three points, the same as Brentford after beating Villa 1-0 thanks to a 12th-minute Dango Ouattara goal; the Villains have just one point, earned from their 0-0 draw with Newcastle on Matchday 1.
