A police officer died along with her two-month-old daughter after jumping from a building in Pocitos, Montevideo.
The fact and the sequence
The incident occurred Thursday night at Bartolito Mitre and Baltasar Vargas. The woman was with her three daughters, according to police sources confirmed to Uruguay Al Dia.
The eldest, 12, managed to escape and helped her 3-year-old sister, then called for help. Minutes later, the mother threw herself into the void with the baby in her arms. A medical emergency confirmed both deaths around 11:00 p.m.
Research and family situation
The police officer had been certified for more than three years. Prosecutor Diego Pérez took charge of the case and ordered the two surviving minors to be released to a responsible family member.
