Orsi participated in the 1372nd extraordinary and solemn session of the Committee of Representatives of the Latin American Integration Association (Aladi), at the organization's headquarters in Montevideo.

He recalled that on August 25, Uruguay will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and emphasized the country's commitment to regional integration since its origins. He noted that this commitment constitutes a "seal that has always accompanied us."

He highlighted the country's "vocational drive for integration," which is also provided for in the Constitution of the Republic, where Article 6 incorporates this mandate.

In his speech, he spoke of a "historical process of positive accumulation" that acts as "a thread that unites and defines us as a nation." In this regard, he praised the contribution of ALADI (National Institute of Integration) since its inception in terms of integration.

He considered that, in the current international scenario of "dismantling multilateralism," this historic process can be transformed into an opportunity for the countries of the region.

Opening of the extraordinary session

In addition to opening the event, Orsi signed the distinguished visitors' book. The president of the Committee of Representatives, Isabel Wagner, and the secretary general of ALADI, Sergio Abreu, presented him with a commemorative medal.

Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin emphasized that Orsi is the first president to participate in a session of the organization since 2005. "Uruguay remains at the forefront of integration issues; we are strengthening and promoting them, because this is the path of multilateralism," he stated.

Among those attending were the Secretary and Undersecretary of the Presidency, Alejandro Sánchez and Jorge Díaz; the Minister of Industry, Energy, and Mining, Fernanda Cardona; the Undersecretary of Education and Culture, Gabriela Verde; and the Director of the Office of Planning and Budget, Rodrigo Arim.
