Houthi rebels, who control large areas of Yemen, launched a missile at Israel on Friday, although the attack had no consequences because, according to the Israeli military, the projectile "apparently disintegrated in mid-air."

Israeli authorities had activated alerts in several areas after detecting this launch. Air defense systems were also deployed to try to intercept the missile, which ultimately failed to hit any target.

The Houthis themselves have claimed responsibility, claiming they fired a ballistic missile and launched several drones. According to this group, one missile managed to hit Ben Gurion Airport, near Tel Aviv, a destination for which there is no record.

The Yemeni insurgency, allied with Iran, has intensified such actions in response to the Israeli military offensive on the Gaza Strip, in a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinians that also led it to jeopardize maritime security in the Red Sea.
