Net natural gas imports to Spain reached 25,173 gigawatt hours (GWh) in June, representing a 3.7% increase over the same month last year, according to data from the Strategic Petroleum Products Reserves Corporation (CORES).
Pipeline imports decreased by 20.8% compared to June 2024, while liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports increased by 19.0%. Net natural gas imports (310,990 GWh) decreased by 2.3% year-on-year in the rolling year.
Natural gas imports reached 27,587 GWh in June, a 2.5% increase year-over-year. Of this total, 68.7% was imported as LNG, and the remaining 31.3% via pipeline.
Supplies from Central and South America (+93.6%), North America (+26.1%), and Africa (+18.9%) increased year-on-year, while those from Europe and Eurasia decreased (-57.2%). No imports from Asia-Pacific or the Middle East were recorded in June.
Algeria was Spain's main supplier of natural gas in June, with 12,038 GWh and representing 43.6% of the total, followed by the US (4,134 GWh and 15.0%) and Russia (3,268 GWh and 11.8%). In the last twelve months, imports fell by 4.3% year-on-year, to 352,172 GWh.
MOROCCO, MAIN DESTINATION FOR EXPORTS.
In June, natural gas exports reached 2,415 GWh, a 40.0% decrease compared to June 2024. 52.1% was exported via pipeline and the remaining 47.9% in the form of LNG. Morocco is the main export destination, with 858 GWh and 35.5% of the total, followed by France (354 GWh and 14.6%).
In the rolling year, natural gas exports stood at 41,181 GWh, a 17.1% year-on-year decrease, with 67.9% of these exports carried out by pipeline and the remaining 32.1% in the form of LNG.
