FC Neman Grodno eliminated Klaksvíkar Ítróttarfelag, a team from the Faroe Islands, on penalties (5-4) this Thursday in the third qualifying round of the 2025/26 Conference League, thus becoming Rayo Vallecano's rival for the last match to access the league phase in said tournament.
Despite conceding 2-0 in the first leg on August 5, the Belarusian side leveled the tie with goals from Gulzhigit Borubaev (80th minute) and Yuri Pantya (84th minute). Although they were reduced to one man in extra time after Mads Mikkelsen's sending off, KÍ Klaksvík held on to force a penalty shootout.
However, a mistake by Patrik Johannesen in the second round of the shootout condemned the Faroese team, as it was of no use to make the other four shots because their opponents made all five of their shots to secure a ticket to the next round and a date with Rayo Vallecano.
