The Nashville Film Festival is rounding out its lineup with two additional high-profile screenings.
The 56th annual Fest scheduled for September 18-24, "Bill Condon's Closing Night Present Kiss of the Woman starring Jennifer Lopez Diego Luna and Tonatiuh With the latter set to accept a Star Rising Award following the film screening and Q&A. Also included on this year's program is a keynote presentation of the documentary John Candy : I Like director Colin Hanks and a team of producers that includes Ryan Reynolds .
Nashfilm's director of programming, Lauren Thelen, said the team is "thrilled" to bring the selections to local audiences to help set the tone for an "unforgettable" week. "These teams deliver some of the season's most anticipated, hilarious, and emotionally impactful films," Thelen added. "Each film, covering heartfelt, inspiring, and deeply resonant stories, represents the compelling work in cinema today."
Kiss the Woman , which hits theaters October 10th through a joint venture between Lionsgate and LD Entertainment, will center on Valentín, a political prisoner played by Luna, who is forced to share a cell with Molina, a Tonatiuh resident. The two form an unlikely bond when Molina unveils the plot of a Hollywood musical starring his favorite diva, Ingrid Luna, played by López.

John Candy: I Like It From Amazon MGM Studios, explores the life and legacy of the comedy icon and traces his rise to fame as he battles personal ghosts and the pressures of Hollywood. The film features never-before-seen home videos, intimate access to his family, and candid recollections from collaborators. Screenings are scheduled for September 20, while the film is set for release on October 10.
The festival kicks off with an opening night celebration at Urban Cowboy Bar in Arcade on September 18, while a major closing party is slated for Jane Electric on September 24. Earlier this month, the festival revealed the bulk of the lineup, which includes Jay Duplass » The Baltimorons , Amanda Kramer Apropos Ryan White’s Come See Me in the Good Light , Max Walker Silverman’s Rebuild , Michael John Warren’s You’ve Got Gold: A Celebration of John Prine , and Brandon Vestal’s Opryland USA: A Circle Broken .
