Marcelo Abdala will begin leading the PIT-CNT party after his slate's victory. Congress approved a new action plan, and the union leadership is being restructured.

The communist union movement won the internal elections of the PIT-CNT and decided to continue Marcelo Abdala leadership of the Executive Secretariat . The results were announced at the close of the 15th Trade Union Congress, where four lists participated, reflecting new alliances and internal tensions within the union movement.

List 1, "The Unitary," comprised of representatives from sectors such as metalworking, construction, private healthcare, telecommunications, the dairy industry, and education, obtained 473 votes , making it the most popular. This secures 17 positions on the Representative Board , which was reduced from 48 to 41 members.

In second place was List 41-98, an alliance between "En Lucha" (COFE) and "Articulación" (FUECYS, FUM, AEBU), with 418 votes and 15 positions . In third place was List 2, "Coordinación," with 136 votes , which translates to 5 positions , and finally, List 8, "Por la dignidad," 127 votes and 4 positions .

The new Representative Board will be responsible for deciding whether the PIT-CNT maintains the current structure of the presidency, vice presidency, and general secretary, or opts for a coordinator . This discussion will be one of the first points to be addressed in the installation phase of the new leadership.

union action plan was also approved, focusing on mobilizations aimed at restoring purchasing power in salary agreements. Furthermore, agreements were made to demand a lower retirement age , an increase in the lowest pensions , and the elimination of profit-making in the pension system, particularly through the commissions of the AFAPs .

The PIT-CNT is thus preparing for a new stage of struggles and political decisions in a key year, where the role of the union movement will once again intersect with the country's economic and social agenda.
