Spanish rider Marc Márquez (Ducati) expressed his satisfaction at finally managing to "win on the red bike" at the Austrian Grand Prix, where he achieved his sixth consecutive double in the 2025 World Championship, and hopes to "take advantage of this momentum," although he acknowledged that he is already mentally preparing for the day when "you can't win."
"We're continuing with the same mentality: nine races remain. The important thing is to keep adding points and always trying to understand the limits of the race. Going with this momentum, it will be hard for me to accept the day I can't win, which will come; there will come a Sunday or a Saturday when I can't win, and I'm working hard mentally to understand that day when I can't win and pick up points. As long as the momentum lasts, we'll try to take advantage of it," he said in a statement to DAZN.
All in his first win at Spielberg. "It was a track I was really looking forward to. With the red bike, I wanted to try to win; it's the bike I lost to every year on the last corner. You learn from those defeats. This year we worked really well; we came in with incredible momentum. Recapping the second half of the championship with another 37-point finish is even better. Yesterday I was very satisfied with the sprint, but today I saw even more because I was looking forward to it, firstly, this track, and secondly, dedicating Sunday's victory to all of Pau Alsina's family and friends, who left us almost a month ago," he said.
Furthermore, the Cervera native reiterated the importance of winning the sprint race on Saturday. "The important thing, above all, is Saturday. Today it was very difficult for me to overtake Bezzecchi; I tried, I fell back, I tried again, I fell back again, and this caused the front tire to heat up a lot. I tried to save the rear, but since I couldn't brake late, I was using it more than necessary. At the end of the race, an outsider, Fermín, also came along with a very good pace, and this will also have to be analyzed, what he did well, because he had a great race," he indicated.
"At the start of the race, I had planned to go slower, but I saw Marco was pushing really hard. I didn't know how far we would go on the tires; I didn't want to let him go by more than a second or a second and a half because it would be harder to make up that gap later. I saw that we were putting a lot of pressure on the rear tire, and in fact, in the last 6-7 laps, we were slipping, even on the straight. Fermín was the Ducati rider who saved the tire the best in the sprint yesterday, and today he continued that trend, because his second part of the race was very, very fast," he concluded.
