MADRID, 15 (EUROPA PRESS)

FC Barcelona defender Jules Kounde officially renewed his contract with the Catalan club until 2030 on Friday, a cornerstone of Hansi Flick's team.

"FC Barcelona announces that it has reached an agreement with player Jules Kounde to renew his contract with the Club until June 30, 2030," the club announced.

Kounde himself had announced his intention to renew his contract on July 30th in an interview during the preseason tour in Asia. "The renewal is a matter of days, when we return. I think everything is finalized, so I'm happy about this. It happened pretty quickly; both the club and I had the same idea of staying," the Frenchman said at the time.

Two weeks later, the club made official the agreement, which will soon be signed between the club and the player "at an event attended by President Joan Laporta." The Frenchman, who arrived in Barcelona in 2022, has established himself as a key player at right-back for Hansi Flick.

The German coach is counting on Kounde, a long-standing full-back who also formed a great partnership with Lamine Yamal last season. The Frenchman, who was the hero of last season's Copa del Rey victory against Real Madrid, will be in his fourth season with the Blaugrana and has accumulated 86 consecutive appearances, more than any other player in the squad, between November 25, 2023, and April 19, 2025.

The former Sevilla player's privileged physique makes him undisputed in over a hundred matches, in which he already has five titles with FC Barcelona: two La Liga titles, two Super Cups, and one Copa del Rey, which he won with a shot from outside the area in the 116th minute against their eternal rivals.

On another note, Barça announced the sale of Trincao's rights. "FC Barcelona and Sporting Clube de Portugal have reached an agreement for the sale of 50% of the rights the Club held over the player Francisco Trincao," it announced.
