MADRID, 19 (EUROPA PRESS)

Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the US Open mixed doubles event, which he was scheduled to compete in alongside Czech Katerina Siniakova, the organizers of the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season announced Tuesday.

Sinner, who withdrew from the Cincinnati Open final against Carlos Alcaraz on Monday due to illness, confirmed that he will not be in the newly formed US Open mixed doubles draw alongside Siniakova. The Italian and Czech duo's spot will be filled by local pair Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison, who will face Belinda Bencic and Alexander Zverev.

The first two rounds of the doubles event will take place on Tuesday, with the semifinals and final on Wednesday. The first round will feature top seeds Jack Draper/Jessica Pegula against Carlos Alcaraz/Emma Raducanu, and Olga Danilovic/Novak Djokovic against Mirra Andreeva/Daniil Medvedev.
