MADRID, 21 (EUROPA PRESS)
Iranian authorities reported Thursday that the army has begun its first military exercises since the open war with Israel last June, which lasted 12 days and included attacks by Israeli and US forces against the territory.
As part of these maneuvers, several Iranian naval vessels have carried out a series of missile launches against targets in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Oman, according to reports from Iran's state-run Press TV.
Although these activities are routine in Iran, the maneuvers come at a key moment for Iranian forces, which are seeking to project an image of "strength" following the US attacks on the country's nuclear facilities.
In this regard, these ships are expected to launch cruise missiles at a series of targets, in maneuvers that also include the use of drones. Since the end of the June war, Iran has insisted that it is "prepared" to confront any offensive, as well as any "future attack from Israel."
