MADRID, 21 (EUROPA PRESS)

The non-profit organization "El Teléfono de la Esperanza" has launched its "Catastrophe and Natural Disaster Care Program," which includes in-person and online interventions by clinical and health psychology specialists for those affected by the forest fires across Spain.

Those who consider this option can contact the Telephone of Hope at 717 003 717. The counseling team of 15 professionals will assess each case and, if necessary, refer it to a specialized clinical team.

This program, launched for the first time during the 2024 DANA, is part of the organization's commitment to civil society and its right to receive emotional support in critical moments. Therefore, it is prepared to be activated "whenever necessary, with the aim of offering professional and humane support to those who need it," the association notes.

"We know that in situations like this, the emotional impact can be profound, even for those who have not suffered material damage. Losing that sense of safety or seeing your surroundings altered creates a kind of pain that also needs to be heard," says María Guerrero, president of the Telephone of Hope. "As an organization committed to mental health, we couldn't look the other way. Being present in these moments is also part of our mission," she concludes.
