MADRID, 18 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Official State Gazette (BOE) published this Monday the agreement signed between the Ministry of Health and the Platform of Patient Organizations (POP) for the promotion, drive, and development of the digital transformation of the National Health System (NHS) and the application of digital technologies.

Thus, the agreement aims to establish relations between the Ministry of Health and the POP to contribute to the common goal of the digital transformation of the NHS by developing advisory activities, user validation, mutual participation in conferences, congresses or meetings related to healthcare in general, as well as in activities aimed at involving people in their health care and supporting patients' families through these types of tools and solutions.

In addition, other entities may join the agreement, provided there is unanimous agreement among the previously signatory entities and the Ministry of Health has verified the nature of the entity.

The Ministry is committed to sharing and disseminating information about the NHS's Digital Health projects and strategies directly related to patients and their families. It also reports on identified needs and opportunities for the application of digital technologies in the NHS, aimed at providing direct care to patients and their families.

The Ministry of Health will also report on initiatives to implement digital solutions in healthcare by national and supranational entities and will promote research, development, and innovation in the use of digital technologies by healthcare professionals.

For its part, the Patient Organization Platform is committed to advising on the functional definition of models, services, terminology, applications, and other elements necessary for the digital transformation of the NHS from the perspective of patients and their community, strengthening patients' shared responsibility and their ability to take action regarding their own health.

Likewise, it is committed to collaborating in the identification of training content and materials based on its knowledge of patient needs and providing feedback on the results of public health administration actions related to the application of digital technologies in NHSs geared toward patients or their families. It will also assess potential technological solutions and their implementation methods based on the experience of patients and their communities.

VALIDITY OF TWO YEARS WHICH MAY BE EXTENDED

According to the Official State Gazette (BOE), the agreement will take effect upon registration in the State Electronic Registry of Public Sector Cooperation Bodies and Instruments (REOICO) within five business days of its formalization.

Furthermore, the agreement will be valid for two years and may be extended expressly, by unanimous agreement of the original signatory parties and the adhering parties, for an additional four years.

For the development and monitoring of this agreement, a Monitoring Committee will be established, composed of three members appointed by the Ministry of Health, who will be appointed by the General Secretariat of Digital Health, Information, and Innovation for the NHS, and two members appointed by the Platform of Patient Organizations, who will be appointed by the entity's president.
