How will municipal services operate in Salto on August 25?

by August 23, 2025

The Salto government announced how various municipal services will operate on Monday, August 25th, the date commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. As is typical on holidays, there will be schedule adjustments to urban transportation, special attention to cemeteries, and complete closure of offices, although some key services, such as waste collection and the operation of spas, will remain unchanged.

Urban transport with special schedules

The urban bus service will operate on a reduced schedule. According to official details, Line 1 will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the same schedule as Line 2 and Line 7. Line 5 will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 7:50 p.m., while Line 6 will operate from 6:05 a.m. to 7:55 p.m. Line 10 will start later, at 7:00 a.m., and will run until 8:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Line 11 will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 8:10 p.m.

These adjustments mean that public transportation will not cover the nighttime schedule, so those who must travel late will need to find alternatives. The plan seeks to balance the need to maintain service with the low demand typically seen on holidays.

Waste collection

The City Council confirmed that collection will be carried out in all regular areas, maintaining the normal routine. This ensures the continuity of an essential service for the city, avoiding garbage accumulation during the holiday.

Open thermal centers

One of the department's main attractions, the Daymán and Arapey hot springs, will operate normally. Both local visitors and tourists will be able to access the facilities during the day, which is good news for those taking advantage of the national holiday to enjoy a moment of relaxation or a family outing.

Cemeteries with reduced hours

The Central Cemetery and the Barrio Artigas Cemetery will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The reduced hours reflect the usual holiday schedule, so those planning to visit their loved ones should plan to do so within this timeframe.

Offices closed

Finally, municipal offices will be closed to the public throughout the day. This means that all procedures and business transactions will have to be postponed until Tuesday the 26th, when normal operations resume.

A commemorative day

The August 25th holiday, one of the most important in the national calendar, typically marks changes in the operation of public and private services throughout the country. In the case of Salto, the Municipality announced the work schedule in advance to provide predictability for the population.

With urban transportation operating under a special program, regular garbage collection, reduced cemeteries, open hot springs, and closed offices, the department is adjusting its operations to a date of great historical significance, while ensuring the continuity of basic services.
