MADRID, 21 (EUROPA PRESS)

A Colombian police helicopter was shot down this Thursday in a drone attack in the Colombian municipality of Amalfi, an incident that has so far resulted in one fatality, according to authorities.

The governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián, reported that "the police officers were attacked by a drone" and that "the number of victims is still uncertain," which is why he has "activated the hospital network." He also noted that dissidents of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Gulf Clan are present in the area.

Furthermore, he explained that the attacked aircraft was "providing security to uniformed personnel in manual eradication work on coca crops," as indicated through his profile on the social network X, where he attached a video in which a column of smoke can be seen in the distance after the attack.

"This is complete peace for (the country's president, Gustavo) Petro," said the conservative governor, who said he was "attentive to this news, so painful for democracy and sad for" the security forces.

In fact, the Colombian head of state has confirmed that a technician has died after authorities seized a ton and a half of cocaine from the Gulf Clan in Urabá. "The reaction of the FAC (Colombian Aerospace Force) was immediate," he stated.
