Mirror, mirror on the wall, how do I leave this?

Gal Gadot Snowwit 's box office performance went viral over the weekend.

The actress, who played the evil queen in Disney's live-action adaptation of its classic animated story, previously stated during an interview on an Israeli TV show that the film "would be a huge success" until the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel in 2023. She added that "there was a lot of pressure on celebrities, actors, creators to speak out against Israel" and "I was disappointed that the film was incredibly affected by all of this." (On the eve of the film's release, Gadot voiced support for Israel, and star Rachel Zegler made pro-Palestinian statements; both had online factions calling for a boycott of the film.)

Writing on Instagram, Gadot clarified her position: "I was honored to participate in an extraordinary interview with inspiring interviewers, whose questions go straight to the heart. At times, we answered questions from an emotional place. When the film came out, I felt like what it is one of those things hit me in a very personal, almost visible way."

Gadot's original comments were: "I really enjoyed filming this movie, I really had fun. Even working alongside Rachel Zegler. We laughed and talked, we had fun. I was sure the movie was a huge success. I want to give people around the world context about the situation and reality in Israel, and I always do that. It didn't do well at the box office . But that's how it is, you get some, you lose some."

Released in March, Snowwit grossed $205 million worldwide at the box office, costing nearly $300 million to produce. Reviews were largely negative, with the film averaging a 39% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Following the film's fallout, Disney scrapped another live-action remake plan, with a 2010 update of Tangled being put on indefinite hold .
