The RFEF's Disciplinary Committee sanctioned Real Betis on Wednesday with the partial closure of a section of the stands at La Cartuja Stadium, which will be implemented this Friday against Deportivo Alavés and will affect approximately 200 seats, due to racist and xenophobic chants directed at Athletic Club players last season at the Benito Villamarín, according to the Betis club itself.

"The RFEF's Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned Real Betis Balompié with the partial closure of a section of the stadium's stands. This measure follows the completion of the proceedings opened against the Club following the xenophobic and racist shouts uttered by two fans at Athletic Club players last February during the Matchday 22 match played at the Benito Villamarín stadium," the club reported.

The sanction will be implemented at La Cartuja Stadium this Friday during the match against Deportivo Alavés, and the affected section will occupy approximately 200 seats. "Affected season ticket holders will receive the appropriate notification from the club," the statement read.

"Real Betis Balompié reiterates its condemnation of any racist or xenophobic behavior that in no way represents its fans," concluded the statement announcing the sanction issued by the club.

The Bilbao club itself reported xenophobic and racist chants directed at its players, Maroan Sannadi and Óscar De Marcos. "Sannadi, Sannadi, go home, black man. Go to Africa with your dead!" they shouted at the striker, while the former Athletic Club player was warned: "Look under the car, De Marcos."
