MADRID, 21 (EUROPA PRESS)
French center back Loïc Badé became a new player for Bayer Leverkusen of the German Bundesliga on Thursday, after the German club and Sevilla FC reached a transfer agreement, with the player signing a new contract until 2030, according to separate statements.
"Sevilla FC and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement for the transfer of French defender Loïc Badé," announced the Seville club, to which the French defender arrived in the winter transfer window of the 2022-23 season, in which he added the Europa League to his trophy cabinet, quickly becoming one of the key players in the 'blanquirrojo' dressing room.
Badé has played for Sevilla in 93 official matches, spanning 79 La Liga titles, 2 Champions League titles, 6 Europa League titles, 1 European Super Cup, and 5 Copa del Rey titles. He has scored three goals in all of them. During his time at Sevilla, the centre-back has also earned a full cap for France, playing in one match in the 2025 Nations League, winning silver in Paris 2024, and competing in the 2023 Under-21 European Championship.
"Sevilla FC would like to thank Badé for his commitment to the club over the years and wish him the best of luck in this new professional phase," concluded the Seville-based club's statement.
Badé, who will wear the number 5 shirt at his new club, has signed a five-year contract with Bayer Leverkusen, which runs until June 30, 2030. "With Loïc Badé, we have gained a young but already highly experienced center-back for Bayer 04. He was used to playing against world-class strikers in the Spanish La Liga," explained sporting director Simon Rolfes, who praised the "intelligent" player.
For his part, Badé admitted that the Bundesliga and German football "are very attractive" to him. "Bayer Leverkusen has attracted a lot of attention abroad in recent years. I've watched a lot of things on television, especially the international matches. The Leverkusen stadium and fans are fantastic. It will be great fun to fight for titles for Bayer in this atmosphere," he stated.
