Principal photography has begun on the upcoming Oscar-winning project, written by Pawlikowski and Henk Handloegten, Mubico confirmed Tuesday.
Set at the height of the Cold War, 1949 The Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a Fall stars Hüller as Erika, an actress, journalist, and demonstration driver who travels from Weimar-dominated Frankfurt to the United States with her father, Thomas (Hanns Zischler), a writer. August Diehl, Anna Madeley, David Streisow, and Theo Trebs also appear.

Pawlikowski reunites with his longtime filmmaking team, which includes Oscar-nominated director of photography Lukasz Zal, costume designer Aleksandra Staszko, editor Piotr Wójcik, production designers Katarzyna Sebańska and Marcel Sawiiński, and composer Marcin.
Pawlikowski's Journey garnered 70 international awards since its 2013 release, including five European Film Awards and the 2015 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He was nominated for Best Director at Cannes in 2018 for Cold War , which garnered 52 wins and 126 nominations overall, including Oscar nominations for Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director, and Best Cinematography.
