Laura, the sister of Luna Giardina—Pablo Laurta's ex-partner—claimed that Luna had been filing complaints and requesting protection in Uruguay without receiving effective responses. She stated that she learned about the double femicide in Córdoba, Argentina, through social media. "It was abrupt. I posted a message asking for someone to contact me, and only then did information start to arrive," she said. She noted that the only thing left to do now is for justice to move forward and for the custody of 6-year-old Pedro to be determined. "That's not in our hands," she added.

Luna Giardina files complaints in Uruguay and requests protection

Laura said she spoke with her sister two weeks before the incident. “She was happy. She had enrolled in university,” she recalled. However, she emphasized that the fear continued over time. “It's not something that came out of the end. We lived in fear for years,” she stated. According to her account, Luna fully realized the risk when she was already in Uruguay . During that time, she filed complaints and requested protective measures. However, when she was able to leave, she traveled to Córdoba. “That's when I found out about everything she had been going through,” Laura said, alluding to episodes that allegedly occurred during her previous residency in Uruguay.

Asked about the media coverage and the circulation of rumors, Laura stated that her priority is Pedro. “I'm focused on protecting my nephew. May my sister rest in peace. The rest will be revealed in time. I'm not in a position to carry any more,” she stated. However, she asked that the process continue and that comprehensive support be guaranteed for the child while the court determines custody and the care network.
