Dubbed the legendary film Scott Glenn Take center stage at the 32nd Oldenburg Film Festival That opens on September 10 with the world debut of Hank Bedford Eugene the Naval Sailor Starring the 86-year-old actor in a rare leading role.
The 16mm retro thriller sees Glenn play a former naval elevator operator whose life begins to unravel when his son tries to force him into his lifelong family life, while a series of murders terrorize his community. Joining Glenn in the cast are Jim Gaffigan, Annette O'Toole, Shioli Kutsuna, and Jeremy Bobb.

Oldenburg will also pay tribute to Glenn with a retrospective of his career highlights, including James Bridges' Urban Cowboy (1980), John Frankenheimer's The Challenge (1982), Jonathan Demme's The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Ken Loach's Music from Carla (1996).
For over five decades, Glenn has been the actor's character actor, working with the world's greatest directors—Robert Altman, Michael Mann, John Frankenheimer, Francis Ford, and Sofia Coppola—and alongside Marlon Brando, Sir Laurence Olivier, Jodie Foster, and Denzel Washington. His credits, from Apocalypse Now to The Right Stuff , from The Search for Red October to The Silence of the Lambs and Training Day, are a tribute to his talent and his enduring film legacy.

More recently, Glenn has become a small screen presence with roles in Sober Like This, Reckless Like This, Monkey and the third season of The White Lotus . His turn as the owner of the Holder Resort earned him Your First Nod an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
The premiere of Eugene the Sailor marks Bedford’s return to Oldenburg nearly a decade after debuting his first feature, Dixiland, at the German Independent Festival in 2015. Glenn, Bedford, producer Stephen Vincent, and cast members will participate in the debut and festival events from September 10-14.
