MADRID, 18 (EUROPA PRESS)

Scotland's Robert MacIntyre and England's Tyrrell Hatton have automatically qualified for the European team for the 2025 Ryder Cup, which will be held at Bethpage Black (United States) from September 26-28, joining Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood in the squad coached by Luke Donald.

World number eight MacIntyre secured his spot in the 45th edition of the biennial European-U.S. golf competition by finishing second, behind only world number one Scottie Scheffler, at the BMW Championship, the penultimate FedExCup Playoff event of the PGA Tour season. He also finished runner-up at the US Open.

Hatton, meanwhile, will be making his fourth consecutive Ryder Cup appearance after securing two wins at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, as well as a second-place finish at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and a fourth-place finish at the US Open.

Team Europe captain Luke Donald said MacIntyre "has performed exceptionally well on both sides of the Atlantic this season." "That strong form, combined with his experience from 2023, will be invaluable in New York," he said. "Securing his fourth consecutive Ryder Cup berth demonstrates Tyrrell's consistency, and we will welcome his passion and experience back to Team Europe," he added of Hatton.

The automatic qualification period for the European team ends on Sunday. The top six players in the European rankings at the end of the Betfred British Masters will secure their spots; Ireland's Shane Lowry holds the final automatic qualification spot, but Denmark's Rasmus Hojgaard is also in contention. Donald Trump will announce his six selections on Monday, September 1.

On Sunday, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau earned their spots on Team USA, joining Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun and Xander Schauffele as the six automatic qualifiers through the U.S. points system.
