MADRID, 22 (EUROPA PRESS)
The German logistics group Deutsche Post DHL announced this Friday that companies will no longer be able to transport packages or send postal shipments containing goods to the United States.
According to a press release, the executive order "Suspension of Duty-Free De Minimis Treatment for All Countries," which will take effect on August 29, has changed the rules of the game for the transportation of goods.
"The reason for the planned temporary restrictions is the new procedures required by the US authorities for postal shipments, which differ from the regulations previously applied," he explained.
"Key issues remain unresolved, including how and who will collect customs duties in the future, what additional data will be required, and how data transmission to U.S. Customs and Border Protection will be conducted," the company said.
However, the multinational has clarified that DHL Express will remain operational. Furthermore, packages billed as "gifts" under $100 (€86.20) or containing documents can also be sent without issue, as long as they are sent between individuals.
